“Making members better photographers”
We meet twice every month via Zoom. We may or may not eventually resume our in-person meetings at the Boca Raton Community Center.
- 1st Wednesday** of the month, we have a Workshop. Members submit one or two photos via Dropbox and other members give feedback and suggestions for improving the images. We use Lightroom to demonstrate editing techniques.
- 2nd Wednesday** of the month, we have an Evaluation Meeting with an Assigned Subject (which is voluntary). Members may submit 3 photos of General Subjects, Assigned Subjects or a combination of either. We have an outside judge who comments and scores the photos from 6 low to 9 high.
- We also offer Zoom presentations and Webinars from either within our club or other clubs in the area. These programs cover subjects such as macro photography, composition, animal photography, post processing tips, etc.
- When we can resume meeting in groups, we’ll go back to organizing photo shoots in the area.
- Your best photos will be highlighted in our website Gallery for your friends and fellow photographers to see.
**Schedule may change subject to holidays, etc.
Members are not required to submit images. We do suggest that you attend the 1st Wednesday and bring photos. This is the fastest way to learn and improve your photographic skills.
Remember, judging is very subjective. One judge may give a photo a 9 and another judge may give it a lower score. Submit photos you like. If the judge likes it . . . great! If not, you still like it.
You are not competing against other members, you are competing against yourself to keep improving the quality of your work.
The photographer is more important than the equipment. We have had many images score 9’s taken with cell phones or point and shoot cameras. Our members shoot with several different manufacturers’ equipment. Some use Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Olympus and many others. If you need help with your camera, chances are that a member(s) can help you.
The same with post-processing. Some members are using Photoshop, Lightroom, Elements, Luminar, Topaz, Affinity, On One, and others.
Please see the “EVALUATIONS” and “DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS GUIDELINES” sections for detailed info about submitting your images AND MORE.
